OSMOSIS is a narrative tetralogy that opens with this First Volume,
Born on the Wrong Side.
Brigid and Jeny are like day and night: reserved and generous the former, brazen and impatient the latter. Yet a sort of indissoluble bond holds them together since early childhood on the cliffs of the Scottish coasts. In the United States, in Atlanta, they both seem to find their own dimension. Next to the little house at the edge of the forest that Brigid renovates to make it her own small business and farm lives Charles, a charming and mysterious neighbor who, after having rescued her in a moment of need, feels grateful and incredulous of every minute of extreme bliss experienced with her.
It is just as time goes by that Brigid realizes that she can no longer live
without this man, who is always ready to infuse self-esteem and courage into her. Just as Charles will soon feel that the indescribable pleasure sprung from their alchemical fusion of body and soul is now for him something that cannot be renounced, which goes beyond any of his previous beliefs. Coming back from his long days of absence, Charles shares with Brigid some of the most painful and disturbing aspects of his very secret work: the team he leads has the delicate task of saving from certain death or atrocious suffering and injustice children and teenagers who since birth, in various parts of the world, have been reserved nothing but violence. The unconditional involvement of Brigid in the professional and human misadventures and challenges of Charles during his missions will end up putting their lives in serious danger, as well as the work of Charles and the members of his team.
EMANUELA LUSUARDI lives in Carpi, near Modena, Italy, where she manages with her partners the historic ‘Caffetteria del Centro’.
This is her first novel, and what prompted her to listen and give voice to the passionate need
to write have been the many and too many cases of child exploitation and violent atrocities and injustices still perpetrated with impunity on children and adolescents in every corner of the
of the world. The male protagonist, Charles, is freely inspired by the biographical and human profile, more than artistic one, of Keanu Reeves
