It was completed by Irish writer John Millington Synge in 1901 and first published in 1907. It is based on Synge's multiple travels through the Irish-speaking and predominately rural set of islands off the Western coast of Ireland.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003cb\u003eThis edition of the book\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eDaniela’s excitement after visiting the Aran Islands was contagious. She sent me pictures and comments about the place, knowing that I, too, would be attracted by the charm of those wonderful islands.\u003cbr\u003eWhen she told me about Synge’s book, I decided to reprint it in the original language.\u003cbr\u003eI also wanted to preserve the drawings by Jack B. Yeats contained in the 1911 edition of the book.\u003cbr\u003eDaniela wrote the introduction to this edition in beautiful, elegant Italian.
